I am Johnna Holland, owner of My Canine Counterpart LLC.  I have been working with and training dogs for over 10 years. My own love for dog training came from a rescue dog named Babi the Dog.  She was my first pitbull, and the first dog I cared for on my own since childhood.  She came with a lot of different issues and behaviors that may have landed her back in a shelter, but I refused to give up.  We spent years studying each other and learning how to grow together.  There were many highs and even more lows, but we stuck together through it all.  Years later, as my dog training career began to take off, she became a demo dog for my classes, showing everyone that hard work really does pay off no matter how long it takes.  It also taught me a very important lesson – everyone and every dog’s journey is different!

I have since enjoyed learning more about dog sports like Agility, Rally and Barnhunt.  Babi dog was a natural barn hunter! Through this experience, I learned about so many different and practical ways we can give our dogs an outlet to be who they were bred to be, in turn helping to create a more balanced and fulfilled companion.

When Babi the Dog was younger and we were both still learning, I never thought she would ever be a demo dog.  Much to my surprise, she became so much more than that.  She helped me to raise Reflection (a beauceorn who is now 5 years old), Link (a Belgian malinois who is now 3 years old) and Buster (a border collie who is now 2 years old). She was the best matriarch I could have ever asked for – we are because she was!

Because of her and her siblings, I learned how to listen and adapt to fit the individual needs of the dog in front of me. I believe that it is my duty in this life to help repay the love and lessons she gave me by passing on her legacy to others needing extra help with their dog. This is why I have come to work with RTD Dog Training and give back to the dogs who give so much to us.  Let’s get training!
